Name the identity
A document has a stable id and the foreign id of the record it belongs to. A query that scans every document to find one trip is a missing index.

Say what is consistent
A status the business depends on is validated on write. The rest of the document can vary. Both rules are written down.

Keep it out of the money path
A ledger line that must commit with another table stays in the transactional store. A document store is not that commit.
