Separate the accounts
Production is not the sandbox. A change is reviewed before it touches the account that serves customers.

Alarm on the path
A health check and a trace exist for the request a person waits on. An alarm names what to do, not only that a graph moved.

Watch the bill as a design input
A chatty path, a log line per request, and a NAT detour are cost. We look at them while the design is still cheap to change.
