The role
What you will take ownership of.
Responsibilities
- Implement React Native features across iOS and Android with TypeScript, clear component boundaries, and accessible UI patterns.
- Design navigation flows with React Navigation — stacks, tabs, and deep links — including platform-specific fallbacks where needed.
- Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, handle offline and poor-network behavior, and keep server and client state boundaries explicit.
- Bridge to native modules in Swift or Kotlin when device APIs require capabilities JavaScript cannot access directly.
- Profile and improve performance on mid-range devices — bundle size, list rendering, gestures, and startup time.
- Write tests for critical paths, participate in code review, and document decisions that affect release or maintenance.
- Support Play Store and App Store release workflows — signing, build pipelines, and submission readiness with the team.
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend engineers to turn uncertain requirements into shippable mobile slices.
What helps you succeed
- 0–2 years building mobile or cross-platform apps with React Native and TypeScript in production or strong portfolio projects.
- Solid understanding of React fundamentals — hooks, state, effects — and how they translate to mobile constraints.
- Experience consuming REST APIs, handling loading and error states, and structuring client-side state predictably.
- Familiarity with debugging on physical devices and simulators for both iOS and Android.
- Care for accessibility, responsive layouts, and the details that make an app feel native on each platform.
- Clear written communication and comfort asking questions when requirements or trade-offs are still uncertain.
Useful, not mandatory
- Experience with Expo, EAS Build, or Fastlane for reproducible mobile releases.
- Exposure to Firebase, Supabase, push notifications, or offline-first sync patterns.
- Past work with Reanimated, FlashList, TanStack Query, Zustand, or Redux Toolkit.
- Published apps on Google Play or the App Store — or substantive contributions to a shipped React Native product.
